INPUT for the first time in Central/Eastern Europe
On May 10-15, 2009, the capital of Poland will host the largest international conference for public television, INPUT, organized by Polish Television (Polska Telewizja S.A.)
Each year INPUT is held in a different country. For the first time it will be held in Poland, a Central/Eastern European country that will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the fall of communism. Therefore we are inviting the largest group of representatives from public television as well as independent creative professionals and producers from our region to participate in the conference.
Participants at the annual INPUT conference include the heads and directors of public television stations, authors and producers, workers and co-workers, independent producers, as well as representatives of cultural institutions and audiovisual organizations from around the world. Thus the Warsaw conference may very well be the greatest media event not only in Poland, but in all of Central/Eastern Europe.
Each year at INPUT the most interesting and original television programs from 60 different public television stations from around the world are screened and discussed. During the conference around 1000 people associated with the television industry from every continent meet to:
-
promote the idea of public television as a service provided in the public interest
-
present and discuss the finest and most important TV programs from around the world
-
broaden access to the most honest, innovative, courageous, and ambitious programs
-
stimulate development and maintain high production levels in public television around the world
-
allow an international exchange of experiences in the field of television production for creative TV professionals living on various continents, working in various countries and drawing on ideas and themes for television programs from different cultures and traditions.
Sergio Borelli, one of the co-founders of INPUT constantly emphasizes that the goal of INPUT is not to seek common denominators, but to underscore the variety in the programs that are screened.
The conference organizers are Polish Television (Telewizja Polska S.A.) and the city of Warsaw.
