Kiyung Bae has had extensive experience in television production since he joined the Korean Broadcasting System as a television producer in 1991. He has produced many cultural as well as entertainment programs. He has made documentaries about the life and works of artists like Vincent Van Gogh and J.S. Bach. He has covered most of big international events such as Beijing Olympic Broadcasting at the KBS.
He has also worked at the ABU (Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union) as a secondee from KBS responsible for managing capacity building projects that are externally funded. He managed the ABU-ILO collaborative “Asia Works” production on ‘decent work’ issues. He was the Executive Producer of the ‘Live Positive (HIV/AIDS)’ documentary co-production with UNDP among 14 Asian national broadcasters.
He received the Best Program Award from Korean Broadcasting Committee and the Presidential Award from the Korean Government. He studied English Literature and joined drama club as an actor in his school days at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. He earned his masters degree in Communication Studies from Leeds University, UK.
He is an outgoing person. He enjoys working with others and developing opportunities to get to know new people. When working on a team, he is often the identified ‘go to’ person when someone needs an answer to a question, so he is able to contribute to the quality of his co-workers’ results as well.
