TVP na INPUT 2008 W Johannesburgu
Polish Television took part in the 2008 INPUT conference on May 4-10 in Johannesburg. This time as the host of next year’s edition.
As part of INPUT, the following programs produced by Polish Television were presented:
"RANCZO" (The Ranch), a report by Joanna Frydrych produced for the magazine Reporters’ Express on TVP2. This is the story of a family living on a “ranch” located not far from an urban housing project. They created their settlement initially because of economic reasons, and afterwards by choice. Are they happy? The program was qualified for the session titled Caution Fragile.
"UCIEKINIER" (The Escapee), a documentary film by Marek Tomasz Pawłowski produced for the Documentary Form Department at TVP1. It presents the story of an extraordinary person, Kazimierz Piechowski, who organized the most daring escape from Auschwitz. On camera, Piechowski recalls dramatic moments in his life, from both the nightmarish time in the camp and of his fight against the Nazis as a member of the Home Army. For this latter activity he was thrown into jail after the war by the communist authorities. The documentary film is complete with extensive archival materials, including shots of the area around the camp and warehouse interlaced with images taken recently. The film was presented at the session titled Riders of the Lost Archives.
"SZANSA NA SUKCES" (Chance for Success), an entertainment program by Elżbieta Skrętkowska from TVP2. Amateurs hoping to make it big sing the greatest Polish musical hits in the presence of the stars of Poland’s musical stage. The program’s emcee is Wojciech Mann, who adds color with his anecdotes and witty punchlines.
Throughout the entire INPUT 2008 conference in Johannesburg, the TVP SA stand was open and information about INPUT 2009 in Warsaw and Polish Television was available. The TVP stand also hosted a “Happy Hour” with snacks that gave guests a taste of Polish cuisine.
TVP SA was also the host of the traditional “One For the Road” party, which served both as the conclusion of the 2008 conference and an invitation to Warsaw for INPUT 2009.
TVP SA was represented by a number of individuals including member of the board Piotr Farfał. One of the discussion moderators was Lidia Piechota from TVP Olsztyn. The Polish national coordinator is Renata Puchacz.
