2. Animated film directed by Izabela Plucinska "Esterhazy"
After a great success of Warsaw INPUT2009 Conference, which was hosting by Polish Television, Hungary and its public broadcaster MTV was chosen to run this spectacular event. Between 8 and 12 of May 2010, in Budapest, we will have opportunity to take part in the next International Conference of Public Broadcasters INPUT2010.
"Rabbit a'la Berlin": A story about thousands of wild rabbits which lived in the Death Zone of the Berlin Wall. As if the green belt between the two walls was 'designed' for those animals - full of untouched grass, the predators stayed behind the wall and the guards made sure no one 'disturbed' the rabbits. They had been living there for 28 years, enclosed but safe. Unfortunately, the Wall fell down one day and the rabbits had to look for another place to live. The film is an allegory which brings closer the history of Eastern Europe as seen from the 'rabbit' perspective. This is also the first film showing the story of the Wall and the reunification of Germany seen from such an unusual perspective - from the rabbits' point of view. It refers to the nature film convention, the Polish version is narrated by Krystyna Czubówna [famous Polish nature films narrator].
What is interesting - German commissioning editors were very enthusiastic about the idea of shooting a film about the difficult time in German history by two Polish men, from quite a surprising perspective. Worth mentioning is that "Rabbit à la Berlin" by Bartek Konopka and Piotr Rosołowski is nominated for the world's most prestigious film award - Academy Awards in the Short Documentary category. The award ceremony will take place on March 7, 2010.
"Esterhazy": The hero is a young, purblind and sawn-off bunny Esterhazy from the Esterhazy-Dynasty in Vienna. He is sent to Berlin by the Patriarch Count Esterhazy, to find a huge, healthy and beefy bunny woman near by some mysterious Berlin Wall. As the Patriarch of dynasty says, there is an existing paradise of green grass with a wide sub terrestrial system of tunnels made by and for bunnies, protected by soldiers. But it seems like there are hundreds of wall in this bustling city... The small bunny survives a lot of adventures...
After a long, extensive search he finds his paradise (bunnies' paradise that existed in reality on the no-man's land between the East and West part of the famous Berlin Wall). Esterhazy will move there with the love of his life: Mimi, mother of his upcoming dynasty, but... as it is 1989... the Berlin Wall comes down... Hundreds of people claim the Wall, the bunnies have to escape...
Till the end of jury deliberation, three more Polish titles were taking under consideration. "Chemeo", "Days of Honour", "Enchanted Song Festival". International selection board pointed out high artistic value and social influence of submitted by Polish Television programmes.
