Tell me a fairy tale…
The morning session, “Once Upon a Time…Storytelling at its Best” dealt with how to effectively tell a story and how to lead the viewer into the world of storytelling.
“I Want a Wedding Dress” is a drama made on order of a United Nations agency about a young couple in love. Shown from the perspective of the woman, who wants to receive a wedding gown from her poor fiancé. The film attempts to show a universal story that would reach a young audience in Zimbabwe.
The film, “Death of a Queen,” captures another aspect of storytelling. Inspired by Shakespeare’s “Macbeth,” the film was made using one of the eleven South African languages. In it, African rituals are interwoven with modernity.
The next story was told in a glassworks. This Russian film is presented as a wordless opera showing work in silence. The people featured are genuine artists from a folk industry who work for very little money. “It is a real story about patient work.” said director, Svetlana Bychenko.
